People in Karonga district have categorically stated they rally behind President Joyce Banda and her ruling People’s Party and that come 2014 no opposition political party candidate will smell their votes.
The sentiment come at the wake of development rallies Special Assistant to the President, Malani Mtonga, and other top PP officials are holding in the northern border district.
Both traditional and religious leaders observed people in Karonga and other districts in the northern region were marginalized in previous administrations and it is Joyce Banda administration that has shown a heart in boosting their welfare.
According to native speakers in various rallies, people in Karonga are very united and that their present stance in 2014 tripartite elections is see to it that President Banda and her Parliamentary and local elections candidates make it to power in by unanimously voting for them.
Said Group Village Headman Kapiyira of Karonga Nyungwe Constituency in the district: “We have suffered marginalisation long enough but this PP-led government has shown us a heart for our welfare. We are tired of voting for an opposition MP, come 2014, oppositional candidates will post zero votes here. We have all rallied behind President Joyce Banda and nobody else.”
The Group Village Headman took time hailing the PP administration for its vision in seeing to it that Malawi becomes a better place.
“We appreciate various development programs currently underway in this country- all initiated by Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda. We don’t take for granted programs like One Cow per Family, Mudzi Transformation Trust for we have seen the lives of marginalized members getting improved because of such programs,” he said.
Kapiyira also asked for an extensive fertilizer loan program in his area.
In his remarks, Reverend Mtonga said President Banda has the welfare of people in rural areas at heart and that if she is given legitimacy to take Malawi beyond 2014, Malawi will be more transformed and a better place that she found it.
He highlighted the importance of Farm Input Subsidy Program (FISP) and its parallel program that the Joyce Banda administration intends to use to boost harvests in this agricultural driven economy.
Added Reverend Mtonga: “In the few months President Joyce Banda has been in power, she has changed the lives of many through the Mudzi Transformation Trust that has been directly impacting the lives of very poor Malawians. Remember when the communities improve, the national improves as well.”
Mtonga also said unlike previous leaders, President Banda is humble and listening and that she has the needed leadership qualities to transform the country.
He also pledged government will see to it that this year’s subsidy program is effective and that it boosts the lives of intended beneficiaries.Follow and Subscribe Nyasa TV :
