Karonga Utd players nominated for Airtel Top 8 award

Three players including Karonga United’s dreadlocked enterprising midfielder have been nominated for the award of 2019 Airtel Top 8 Player of the tournament.

The other two are Silver Strikers goalkeeper Brighton Munthali and Silver Strikers midfielder Duncan Nyoni.

The Malawian Sports Media Fraternity will vote for the winner who will be crowned at a Airtel Top 8 awards gala to take place later this month according to a statement from Football Association of Malawi (FAM).

Munthali was outstanding during the campaign and never conceded any goal in all the four matches until his side grabbed the cup.

In 2017, Munthali also managed three clean sheets and only conceded once from a penalty as Silver Strikers won the 2017 Airtel Top 8.

Lungu was also impressive for Karonga leading his side to the first ever cup final at elite stage.

For Silver, Nyoni was also influential to their title having scored one goal and provide one assist during the campaign and was named man of the match once.
