Kasambara, Vuwa hold joint rally: Urge Malawians to vote wisely

Former justice minister Ralph Kasambara who is contesting on an independent ticket for parliamentary race in Nkhata-Bay North West held a joint rally with opposition DPP campaign Director Vuwa Kaunda in Nkhatabay where they urged the electorate to consider voting for “a president of genuine substance.”

Kasambara said people in Nkhatabay should elect MPs who will advance the interest of their constituencies and the district.

He also said Nkhatabay is now being neglected by the Joyce Banda regime.

“During the time of late president Bingu wa Mutharika, we have four senior minister from Nkhatabay. There was strong representation of Nkhatabay in the corridors of power but now we have only one minister,” said Kasambara.

“When May 20 comes you must vote wisely,” he said.

He also praised the DPP campaign boss, saying he is “tried, tested and trusted” lawmaker.

The prominent lawyer hailed Vuwa for “relentlessly fighting in parliament for Nkhatabay development.”

Kasambara, who submitted his nomination papers as Ada Kasambara a Ralph, said his campaign would not be affected by the court case he is currently answering in connection with the shooting of former treasury budget director, Paul Mphwiyo.

“The court cases I’m answering will not derail my campaign trail,” he said, insisting that what preoccupies his mind now is meeting his constituents at their point of need.

In his remarks, Vuwa Kaunda said Malawians should use their vote on May 20 to “sweep away” what he called cashgate presidency.

“A lot of people have become poorer because of the cashgate policies that the PP have created,” he said.

He adds that President Joyce Banda has completely failed to govern the nation as it can be noticed from the many challenges the people of Malawi have been subjected to.

Vuwa said Malawi needs a combination of Peter Mutharika and Saulos Chilima for presidency to correct all the wrongs that the PP has created for the past two years.
