KB out to revive slim title defence chances: Malawi TNM Super League

TNM Super League Champions Kamuzu Barracks (K.B) will be looking forward to revive their slim chances of retaining the title defence as they travel to the Eastern Region to face fellow soldiers Red Lions and civilian side Mighty Be Forward Wanderers on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

KB have stuttered in defence of their title

Both matches will be played at the Balaka Stadium.

Speaking ahead of their two crucial second round opening encounters, K.B Head Coach Billy Phambala said his side is ready to re-launch their title defence.

“These two games are very important for us and we are treating them with all the seriousness. The boys are ready and have been responding well in training” said Phambala.

He has since expressed optimism that his side can repeat their last season’s performance.

They finished the 2016-17 first round season on position eight but went on to display an incredible five star performance in the second
and went on to clinch the league championship.

“Don’t rule us out, we are the defending champions and there is no way we can just give up so easily. We still have 15 games to play and as soldiers we will fight until the last drop. We can defend the title but if we fail, we will make sure we finish at a better and
respectable position” he said.

“We just need to be unity among the players, technical panel, executive as well as supporters” said Phambala.

The soldiers dropped one step down to position nine from eight which is now occupied by Azam Tigers.

Be Forward Wanderers are still on the driving seat with 35 points with Silver Strikers coming second 34 while reigning Carlsberg Cup Kings Nyasa Big Bullets come third with 28 points.
