KB, Silver game grosses K2.2m: Malawi TNM Super League

About K2.2 million was raised from Sunday’s TNM Super League game involving Kamuzu Barracks and defending TNM Super League champions Silver Strikers played at Dedza Stadium.

The game,  which ended goal-less attracted thousands of spectators, who filled almost every space available inside the stadium.

Tickets were sold out just after 15 minutes of play and authorities at the stadium had to order fresh tickets from Dedza Town Council.

The K2.2 million raised from Dedza is much higher compared to combined gate collections from Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, which hosted two league games- Civo United versus Moyale Barracks and Epac FC versus Moyale on Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The two games grossed about K500,000 in total and the visiting Moyale got less than K100,000 from both games.

During the capital city derby involving Silver Strikers and Civo at the Civo Stadium on April 27, a total of K1.3 million was realized from the games and each of the two teams received over K200,000.

In Dedza, teams KB. Silver and ground owners- Dedza Town Council pocketed about K500,000 each with the rest of the money shared by Fam, Sulom, Sports Council, security police officers, game Stewarts, cashiers and first aiders.

The charges were K300 open stands and K1,000 (not K500 as earlier reported) VIP Stand.
