This article is complete rubbish! I talked to Edson after the article was published, and he never said half of the things that were printed. It seems the journalist is thirsting for controversy which is a real shame. This article is not fair to Edson nor the Malawi Sports Council – it makes them both look foolish (and they are not). People will read this article and think “why would I sponsor a guy like Edson?” – totally unfair, and the article should be taken down. Get your facts straight and learn how to write!

So the guy did not train to compare his race time and training time. He is not a serious athlete.

This is really a ridiculous article. If the person who wrote this article did a bit more real journalism he/she would have been able to figure out very quickly that the race was certainly not 8km short. The easiest explanation is that the watch failed for some reason. If you ask others who were at the event with similar watches, they clocked ~42.2km. Also, if it were 8km short, the winning time would have been a whole lot faster (as would have Kumwamba’s). Please start doing real journalism and stop putting out this garbage.
