Four-goal hero in TNM Super League encounter involving Civo United and Blue Eagles FC, Schumaker Kuwali says he is geared to steer Eagles to its first ever TNM Super League glory and has asked the team’s faithful to have faith in the team.
Kuwali became the first player to score four goals in a single Super League match this season after hitting all the four goals as the cops from Area 30 trounced Civo 4-1 at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe’s Area 47.
He claimed a double in the first half before claiming another brace in the second half. The third goal was a masterpiece as the striker took on three Civo defenders’ including Flames’ international John Lanjesi before beating goalkeeper Innocent Phiri to the near post.
Nelson Kangunje claimed Civo’s lone strike shortly after resumption before Kuwali dashed the servants’ hopes of an equaliser with his second double.
Kuwali was deservedly named man-of-the-match after the game and was presented with a number of prizes including a match ball after the game.
Asked about the secret behind his achievement, the player said: “There is no special secret. I just did what my coach told me.”
The striker went on to say he was geared to steer his team to its first ever league glory.
“I am ready to help my team win the championship. People should not write us off because of history. We have a good chance of winning the title,” said Kuwali.
With Saturday’s win, Eagles are now second on the league’s log table with 29 points from 16 games, nine behind league leaders Big Bullets, who have played the same number of games.
Silver Strikers also have 29 points from 17 games but they have an inferior goal difference against Eagles following the cops 4-1 thrashing of Civo.
