Kuwali’s Golden Boot push in Mozambique hit by injury
Malawian professional striker Schumacher Kuwali’s push for the Golden Boot award for Mozambique’s Mocambola has been hit by knee injury.
Kuwali was on pole position to improve on his last season’s haul of 14 league goals for the larger part of the season but injury has left him with unrealistic chance of leapfrogging the first with 16 while the second has 14 goals while the Malawian stand on third with 10 goals.
“I was injured which sidelined me for five weeks. This disturbed my plans of fighting to win the Golden Boot Award,” said, the former Blue Eagles striker.
He confessed that it would be a mountain to climb for him to upset the tables in the remaining two matches.
“Of course never say never anything can happen in the game of football but it will difficult to score as many goals in just under two games,” he said.
Meanwhile his compatriots goalkeeper Charles Swini and midfielder Frank Banda have already got their title with HBC Songo in the bag with two games in hand.
