Last chance saloon for Escom coaches
Escom United’s technical panel has been given a last chance saloon in their next two league games to either deliver positive results or face the chop.
United’s executive committee held a meeting on Tuesday to decide the fate of the Charles Manda led panel following some poor results in both the TNM superleague and the Standard bank knockout cup.
The panel was earlier given a four game ultimatum where they won one game,drawn twice and lost one. The executive met to evaluate their performance and agreed to give them another chance.
Escom United’s chairman Fanuel Nkhono confirmed the development and says the technical panel has been officially told about the ultimatum.
“We met as an executive and agreed to give them another chance to spring up positive results and we will sit down after that to evaluate again. We felt they fairly did well and deserved a chance,” Nkhono said.
Coach Charles Manda when told of the development said he is not moved by the ultimatum but will work extra hard to bring up positive results.
“It’s a challenge yes but it has come at a time when we are meeting difficult sides. We will give it our best shot,” he said.
Escom’s next league assignment is a date against Mighty Wanderers on Sunday at the Balaka stadium.
The electricians are on position 5 with 29 points from 20 games, 4 points behind leaders Civo United.
They bowed out of the Standard bank knockout cup last weekend at the hands of Red Lions.
