Realizing that as human beings, we cannot be able to do anything unless we put God as a foundation in everything we do is one thing that has made many people miss God’s divine purpose for their lives. I have seen many people who start looking or asking God for help when things have already gone wrong yet they did not ask God at the beginning. “Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure…” (11 Timothy 2:19).
God is very pleased with those that continually seek Him for direction, or before committing themselves to everything they do. Our decisions are full of flesh that we are continuously looking for things that may bring happiness only at a specific point in time while overlooking the divine purpose of God in our lives.
There are plans from God and plans from the enemy all fighting for our lives. So, if God is not sought, the flesh will make you go for plans from the enemy which will definitely lead to destruction.
The elders of Israel gathered themselves and requested from God a King just like all the other nations (1 Samuel 8:5). It is very pathetic to notice that they forgot so quickly what God had done for them and thought God was not caring for them by giving them a King.
One thing they were missing here is that they had a Mighty king amidst them but sin and flesh separated them with Him that they could not see His presence or look to Him as their King. This is what happens when man start to separate himself from God which made them want their own ways instead of God’s ways. They wanted to have a King like all the nations yet they were different, their glory and happiness consisted in being unlike these other nations they were referring to.
On the other side, David enquired at the Lord whether he should pursue the troop after the Amelekites had invaded and taken the women captives. And God answered him instantly to pursue and gave him an assurance that he shall surely overtake them, and without fail recover all (1 Samuel 30:8). God did not promise that he will only overtake them, but I see the blessings of God there too to those who fully depend on Him.
As I read I feel this story applies to all of us even now. We have been kept in captive by the enemy, our children, spouses and all that we have. All we need is to go back to God and make Him the foundation of our lives and there is an assurance that we will recover all that the enemy has stolen from us. It is the will of God that we should recover all that Satan has stolen from us.
It does not matter how long it will take, but God promises that we will recover if we put our trust in Him. Let God be the foundation of everything that you do and you will see Him fight all your battles, restoring you to a place where he has purposed for your life, and give you peace in all areas of your life.“Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1).
