After 54 years of independence, what is there to celebrate, 54 years of progress? The only ones to have really benefitted from independence are the politicians who have been in government – big houses, expensive motorcars, fine clothes, servants, foreign travel, etc. etc. How have the lives of ordinary Malawians improved in proportion? Be honest.

There was a low turn up because they celebrated on a wrong date. It’s 6th july for heaven sake not 5th july

This is a sign of how dispondent the general populace has become. What is there to celebrate. 54 years into independence with nothing to show forgot. Worse still, there’s no hope that things will get better. Why celebrate! It’s like kuimbira mfiti m’manja.

Independent is for Malawians not the party followers and yet you will see there will be talking about DPP achievement not Malawi as whole. people are tired with that and I assure you if continues next time nobody will participate

There is nothing to celebrate about. Last year people thronged the stadium coz they wanted to get inside as it was new and to watch the football match
