Luchenza Municipality CEO on forced leave over abuse of office
Chief Executive Officer for Luchenza Municipal Council Andrew Misomali has been send on forced leave over accusation of abuse of office, including absentism from work and maladministration.
The issues at the municipal council date back to May when councillors and chiefs mobilised communities to throw out Misomali from office for alleged financial mismanagement and poor administration.
Mayor for Luchenza Harold Kaliwo said councillors demanded CEO Misomali, director of Public Works Charles Makiyi and chief accountant Chinthengo out of the council.
“These people have been abusing their offices, they have been stealing from the council.and they absent themselves from work as they please,” said Kaliwo.
He said the ward councillors and other council members penned the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to remove the three officials as a matter of urgency.
Misomali said the ward councillors are going out of boundary in their work, saying they want to be doing the job of the secretariat and the council offiocials have been repelling this.
The ministry has since cracked the whip on Misomali, sending him on forced leave.
Spokesperson OF Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development Muhlabse Mughogho confirme that a letter of forced leave for Misomali was served to the municipal council.
Mughogho said the forced leave will allow “investigations” into issue of abuse of office.
The councillors accused the CEO of absentism which they said causes late funding as the councillors have not received their monthly allowances for two months now.
