Lucius salutes people of Balaka North
Musician-cum-politician Lucious Banda who on 20th May, 2014 retained his seat as Balaka North Constituency Parliamentarian on Saturday took his time to thank people of his constituency for electing him through a live band performance at his Zembani Lodge in Balaka.
Banda served the constituency some seven years but was forced to step down after being convicted.
While thanking the people, Banda promised to serve the constituency with sober mind and as a senior and matured member of parliament.
“My message is not long; I just want to thank you people of Balaka North Constituency for your togetherness. It is important [that you voted for me] and you have showed great love for me” said Banda.

“You have shown me real love; Love is precious than money and I promise to represent you [in parliament] not as a junior but a senior MP” he added.
Banda outclassed Getrude Hendlina Maseko of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) who is now First Lady after marrying President Peter Mutharika and Tony Ngalande of Peoples Party (PP) who was his biggest contender and a threat having a strong financial muscle and material resources.
Meanwhile, Banda has turned down the assertions that he will quit music having returned his seat as an MP and been decorated with the position of leader of United Democratic Front (UDF) in parliament.
“I will never quit, music is my life.” Banda wrote on his Facebook page.
He is meanwhile, leader of UDF in parliament following the party president’s appointment in cabinet.
