The newly elected executive committee for one of the earliest schools in the country, Lunjika Secondary hold various activities to fundraise for the renovation of the school which is showing signs that age is catching up with it.
Speaking on the sidelines of the alumni Annual General Meeting (AGM) held recently in Lilongwe, Publicity Secretary Zachariah Nyirenda said among others, they want to renovate school blocks and teachers houses as soon as possible.
“We have been meeting and discussing how best we can help the school, so we also found that we need to find ways to bring incentives for the teachers for better results. We would also want to find a lasting solution to water problems that have been a major problem for learners,” he said.
Nyirenda said fundraising activities for the school, which is run by Seventh Day Adventist will start very soon.
“However, we have already started receiving contributions from well wishers. Those willing to contribute can do so through our bank account; Lunjika Alumni, National Bank, Capital City Branch account number: 0001002100289,” he said.
The newly elected office bearers consists of Arthur Masina as Chairp and being deputized by Madalitso Chodzadza, Nyirenda is being deputized by Zalerapi Mhone, Ziolire Moyo Namondwe is treasure, executive members are Petros Mazunda and Dumbani Munthari, George Nxumayo is northern region representative while Ivy Akimu Chisamo represents the southern region.
Alison Zakaria, Madalitso Ligowe, Chumba Munthari and Milika Nkosi are ex-officios.
