Madonna captioned Malawi visit images on Instrgram with Kenyan flag: Blasted
Pop legend Madonna attracted a barrage of criticism after she captioned her images from her trip to Malawi with the Kenyan flag.
Madonna has been keeping her 7.5 million Instagram followers and 1.2 million Twitter subscribers up-to-date by posting a series of pictures throughout the trip.
However, she made an error in an online tribute when she used an emoji to represent Malawi but picked the wrong one – instead one with black, red and green stripes. It is remarkably similar to the Malawi flag with its black, red and green colour scheme.
“Please replace the Kenyan flags with our Malawi flag in this post,” one Malawian wrote.
“Should have educated her about the flag,” chimed another.
The 57-year-old star adopted her children – David Banda and Mercy James – who are both 10, from orphanages in Malawi.
She took all of her children for the life-changing trip to their native country.
The queen of pop also met with the country’s president, Peter Mutharika, writing alongside a snap of the pair: “Met with His Excellency President Peter Mutharika! We discussed food security, education for girls and staffing for our new Pediatric hospital in Blantyre with Nurses and Clinical Officers @raisingmalawi” (sic).
