Mai Chiponda, Kutsaira replaced: Makungwa gets post

Malawi President Joyce Banda has replaced Presidential aide on Women Affairs, Mai Margret Chiponda with her People’s Party Director of Women,  Clara Mary Makungwa.

Mai Chiponda, who is also DPP deputy director of women,  has also had her request to join PP rejected because she had not “showed any remorse” her utterances, according to PP spokesman Stephen Mwenye.

But Chiponda has denied that she intended to join the PP despite that she was  in PP attire at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) when the President arrived from Liberia .

President Banda has also has removed  the head of National Intelligence Service (NIS) Bintony Kutsaira indicating a possible revamp of government’s spy programme.

Sources say  former Army Commander Mark Chiziko is being tipped to replace Kuntsaira as head of the spy agency.

Kuntsaira, a trained agriculturist, is reported to have been redeployed to the ministry of agriculture.

Meanwhile, experienced civil servant  Chris Kangombe, who was amongst the five Principal Secretaries (PSs) who were sidelined by the late Bingu wa Mutharika government has been relocated to the Vice President’s office.
