Mai Chiponda ordered off the high table

Former presidential aide on women affairs Mai Margrett Chiponda, appointed by the late Bingu wa Mutharika, seems to be failing to accept the fact that times have changed and that she has been fired.

At a recent event where President Joyce Banda visited prisoners and made several donations at Maula Prison, Mai Chiponda got a shock of the day when she was asked to leave the high table where she had found herself a seat among government and party officials.

Nyasa Times source say Mai Chiponda found a seat at the highest table that had been reserved for senior government and party officials until a protocol official Sat the function asked her to leave the and join the rest of the women outside the gate.

New political order: High table where Mai Chiponda was chased away

“Chiponda looked shocked and could not believe she has just seen what former intelligence boss Bintony Kutsaira saw at the swearing in of Vice President Khumbo Kachali,” said the source.

This seemed not to have gone well with Mai Chiponda who after the incident was no longer seen at the event.

President Banda recently appointed People’s Party Director of Women Clara Makungwa as Presidential aide on women affairs, replacing Mai Chiponda who is also DPP Deputy Director of Women.
