Makwangwala retires from politics, UDF pays tribute

United Democratic Front (UDF) has paid tribute to its former secretary general Kennedy Makwangwala who has  announced his exit from active politics.

Makwangwala, who lost his position to Kandi Padambo at the recent party national convention, said he has retired because he wants to concetrare on family and personal affairs.

Rumours were circulating that Makwangwala was heading to another party but he said he has no intentions to participate in active politics again.

UDF spokesman Ken Ndanga hailed Makwangwala for his contributions to the party.

Makwangwala: Retires

“We shall always remember him for his immense contributions,” said Ndanga.

“We respect his decision to retire from active politics. He has not withdrawn his membership from the UDF party and we will be free to approach him for advice,” he added.

Ndanga said the UDF is not a rigid party, saying people are free to leave or join it.
