Malango replaces Chikumbe as spokesperson for Ministry of Health

The Ministry of Health (MoH) has a new Public Relations Officer (PRO) in Joshua Malongo, who has replaced old timer Adrian Chikumbe.

Confirming the development, Ministry of Health Principal Secretary, Dr. Dan Namalika, said his ministry is in the process of being strengthened whereby they are bringing in new staff to beef up the ministry’s operations.

“What we are doing is strengthening our communications since the ministry is big. It becomes a challenge to have only one person to speak for the ministry since there are so many things that take place in the ministry countrywide,” Namalika said.

He further said the ministry still needs more personnel but there is nothing strange which people should be worried about.

“You can see that Mr. Adrian Chikumbe is now in the health education unit and within this unit there is also a lot which focuses on passing out information, so everything concerning the Ministry of Health cannot be handled by one person, the size of the ministry is really big,” added Namalika.

He further said there is a lot that is going to change at the ministry in the course of strengthening it, citing that soon the ministry is going to have three legal officers who will also be working closely with the communication department.

On his part, Malango confirmed that he is the new PRO in the Ministry of Health.

Malango has been a notable media practitioner and has worked for various media organizations in Malawi.
