Having starred in a number of blockbuster movies in the past six years, celebrated Malawian actor Eugene Khumbanyiwa continues moving up the ladder and next year he is back on the big screens as he appears on another Hollywood film called ‘Chappie’.
The Malawian South Africa-based actor plays King in the movie, which is an American science fiction film co-written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, director of the 2009 Oscar-nominated hit ‘District 9’ in which Eugene played Obesandjo.
Chappie is scheduled to be released on March 6, 2015, by Columbia Pictures.
The film stars big names in the movie industry including Sharlto Copley, Hugh Jackman, Dev Patel, and Sigourney Weaver.
Some of the top-selling movies in which Eugene, born in Zomba, has starred are ‘Gangster’s Paradise’ (2008), ‘District 9’ (2009), ‘Death Race 3: Inferno’ (2012) and ‘Seal Team Eight: Behind Enemy Lines’ (2014).
