A statement from the Malawi Embassy, Washington DC, USA states that Mhura made the announcement during an interview with Voice of America (VOA) in Washington DC with the intention of inviting investors to participate in the forthcoming Malawi Investment Forum to take place in Lilongwe from June 29 to 30, 2015.

The Malawi envoy said that the 2015 Malawi Investment Forum is aimed at showcasing investment and trade opportunities in Malawi, promoting specific investment opportunities to both domestic and foreign investors.

According to press statement; “The ambassador explained that to make it a conducive destination, the Malawi Government has set up a One Stop Center, which is essentially a One Stop Shop, where the investor gets all the front-line permits (immigration incentives), registration of the company and land.”

The One Stop Shop will enable the investors to access all these at one go, avoiding running up from one department to another thereby delaying and inconveniencing the investor in the process.

During the interview, Mhura informed all interested investors that the forum would bring together from both local and foreign sectors such as tourism, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure, agriculture and service offering and offering access to a wealth of information as it relates to various investment opportunities that are bound in Malawi.

Mhura has since expressed optimism that investors from the U.S, Brazil, Russia, India, China, the United Kingdom and other European and African countries will participate in the Forum which will be officially opened by President Prof. Peter Mutharika.
