Malawi Nation.Council of Administration Manager Henry Mereka cancelled the elections after the incumbent committee failed to justify the mode of selecting candidates to contest.

The candidates applied to.contest against the Constitution which states that aspiring candidates to get nominated from affiliates.

The committee also raped the Constitution by enabling the sub committees such as athletes, coaches, officiation, fundraising and women to have voting.

But Mereka who was the returning officer questioned the association for overlooking critical issues raised by concerned individuals.

The failure by the association to fail to provide audited accounts during the four year tenure of office also hit the.commitee below the belt

Mereka has since called for an emergency meeting with the committee on Monday with the elections expected to be held within 90 days after sorting out the issues raised in the Constitution

He also faulted the committee for paying a deaf ear to the concerns raised by concerned individuals.

“I don’t know why the executive committee members could read and understand its own Constitution for four years,” Mereka said.

“This is simply what you do is not based on the Constitutional requirement hence it shows that you dont understand it.”

The treasurer report’s by incumbent Ireen Luka was also rejected for being inconsistent with the operations of the association.

One of the delegates Moses Mkondowe said the postponement  by Sports Council and calling of Constitutional amendment was clear sign of the vote of no confidence of the executive committee headed by Godfrey Phiri with Frank Chitembeya as the general secretary.

I am not surprised that this has been cancelled. Bravo to the Sport council for coming to the rescue of the Association.

In the first place, why did this incumbent committee remove the voting committees from voting? For sure they needed to continue to be in office and continue stealing the little association’s resources.

Bravo to the athletes that have stood to the truth about running of the affairs for the association.
