Malawi being destroyed by ‘get-rich-quickly politicians’ without known investment, says MP Lipipa

Youthful politician and businessperson Noel Lipipa, owner of multi-million Lab Enterprises investment, says Malawi is being destroyed by ‘get-rich’ quickly politicians—who amass millions of money without even a single known previous investment to their name.
Lipipa:Some people like Ben Phiri became instant billionaires
The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Blantyre City South legislator made the comment during the exclusive interview he had with Times Television Brian Banda.

“People that are rich are those who, from nowhere, you find that they have too much money, then own fleets of more than 10 vehicles just for personal use. However, they can’t explain the source of such opulence. In fact, even when you trace them, they don’t have a previous investment to their name,” he said.

His comments have been seen by commentators as a dig at his party leaders who had made sudden wealth including Ben Phiri who was recently quizzed by Fiscal Police.
He added that Malawians must be on the guard of public officers, saying it’s a red flag for someone to own fleets of vehicles, too many houses yet that person has no known investment.
“I am happy to tell every Malawian that I am not rich but wealthy. My wealth stems from 22 years of doing business. My business is clean, can be explained, verified and if there is anyone in doubt, I welcome a lifestyle audit,” he said.
He added that he is not a rich person but a wealthy 39-year-old man from 22 years of doing honest and responsible business driven by hard work and sharing opportunities.
Lipipa has since advised young people in Malawi to cultivate a culture of earning and making money using honest ways, saying such processes helps the nation to grow.
He further rubbished reports connecting his name to the K5 billion COVID-19 deal and the ESCOM 40 Litres scandal, saying they are all laughable creations by those who always aim at destroying his name.
“My company, Lab Enterprises, never submitted a bid to supply COVID-19 materials to government. On Escom, I don’t own a vehicle with such registration numbers; further, I am well stocked to take 40 000 liters from ESCOM,” he said.
Lipipa then revealed that he donates to his constituency the 500 litres of fuel he gets as allowance from parliament.

Lab enterprise buys medical equipment from QECH employees. Public Plaster of Paris (PoP) for example get stolen from QECH and find they way to Lab Enterprise. Patients are the referred to go and buy their own equipment and bring back to QECH. That’s how Lipipa runs his business

This guy has got his own issues. He went into politics thinking he was going to be made minister. What that didn’t happen, he became very disillusioned and started being a sell-out by working with UTM at night.. Fortunately, UTM saw him for what he was and also didn’t take him seriously. He now finds himself nowhere politically, hence his rantings. Sour grapes will take you nowhere Mr. Lipipa.

I am anti DPP but if DPP wants to bounce back in 20 years to come, what LIPIPA said will work. It will need chopping off some members as having them in the party we will be talking about 2084. LIPIPA said water in a river does not ascend I do want to correct it him. Sometimes water in a river ascend but when it does expect a waste disaster after that. There is a river in Japan that did that but it was a great disaster that followed after that. I think that is what happened to DPP –… Read more »
