Malawi boy 21 jailed for sodomising 10 year-old
A court in Malawi has convicted and sent to prison a 21 year old young man for sodomizing a 10 year old boy.
On Tuesday 29th March, 2016, he Dowa Magistrate Court heard that the convict identified as Rodney Kamanga invited the boy to his home at Dowa Boma in January where he did the act and thereafter gave him boiled irish potato and K100.00 for the lad not to reveal what had happened.
But later the boy narrated the ordeal to his parents who later reported the matter to police.
They were later referred to Dowa district hospital where medical results revealed the boy was indeed sodomized.
In the court, Police Prosecutor Sub. Inspector Beston Chimbelenga pleaded with the presiding judge Magistrate Imran Phiri to hand the suspect a stiff punishment to deter other would be offenders.
The suspect had nothing to say during the mitigation.
The judge therefore slapped Kamanga with an 18 months Imprisonment with Hard Labour (IHL) sentence.
Sodomy is illegal in Malawi and is contrary to Section 153 of the Penal Code.
The convict hails from Mtambo Village in the Area of Traditional Authority Simphasi in Mchinji District.
