Malawi businessman loses genitals in thug attack: Zomba
A 30-year-old man is battling for life at Zomba Central Hospital after unidentified thugs severed his private parts at Matawale Township in the eastern part of Zomba City on Sunday night.
Eastern Region Police spokesperson Thomeck Nyaude identified the patient as Steven Juma, a businessman from Mwandiyesamwana Village, Traditional Authority Mwambo in the district.
He however, dismissed claims that Juma had his private parts severed.
Said Nyaude: “Police records indicate that the patient (Steven Juma) only sustained deep cuts in his private area, the right ear and eye. Nowhere has it indicated that he had his private parts removed.”
But according to the hospital’s principal administrator Fredson Kambeni, the patient was admitted to the hospital in the early hours of Monday while bleeding profusely.
He said the private parts of the patient had been removed; hence the heavy bleeding.
Of late, such cases have been common in Zomba where a security guard at Chancellor College had also his private parts severed a month ago and the culprits have not yet been apprehended.
Juma was reportedly coming from Matawale Bus Stage to his home when he met his fate.
