Malawi Chief Secretary Ndilowe unveils Facebook page

Chief Secretary to the Government, Hawa Ndilowe, has unveiled her official Facebook page, becoming the second most senior public official in Malawi Government after State President, Dr. Joyce Banda, to embrace social media and utilise it for interacting with the citizenry.

“It is indeed true that as Chief Secretary to the Government I have unveiled my official Facebook page as one way of sharing public service issues with the people, including Malawians who are in the diaspora,” confirmed Ndilowe with Nyasa Times on Thursday.

She said one of her priorities as the head of the Malawi Public Service is to encourage interaction between the people and their government through various citizens’ engagement initiatives and utilising the social media is just one of those initiatives.

Ndilowe: Utilising social media

“Malawians need to be empowered enough to fully understand and appreciate that the public service exists to serve them and that it is their service, and likewise all employees in the Malawi Public Service must understand that they are in their positions to serve the people of Malawi and that they are accountable to the people,” said Ndilowe.

She said the Facebook page, Hawa Olga Ndilowe, will be a platform through which people that have access to internet will be able to interact with her on various issues concerning the Malawi Public Service and how it can be improved to better serve them.
