Malawi crime: Four arrested in teenboy murder as thugs kill again in Mbayani

Four people have been arrested on suspicion of murder  of  a boy Chatiki khome at Mbayani squatter township in Blantyre City.police imageThe victim, 13,  was found with a cut on the forehead, the left side of the head and below the chin while looking after a banana shade.. 

Blantyre police assistant spokesperson Andrew Mayawo identified the suspects unde police custody as  James Paseli aged 22, Tambulani February aged 17, Steven Rashio aged 20 and Tiyesi Saudi aged 24

“Blantyre Police CID arrested the 4 and they are being kept at Blantyre police,” added Mayawo.

The incident took place during the night of 21 to 22 June at Majiga at banana shelter where his parents sell bananas.

The deceased and his younger brother were sent by their mother Mary Khome to wait for their father at the banana shelter who had gone to order some bananas since they had run out of stock of it.

The mother did not bother to check on the children until the next morning when the younger brother informed his mother of his bleeding brother who was in the shelter. .At around six  in the morning  she rushed to the shelter where she found the boy dead .

The matter was reported to Kabula police Unit and the body of the boy was later taken to Queens Hospital where the doctors confirmed the death of the boy.

The doctors further said the boy  – hailed from Masauko Village, T/A Mlumbe in Zomba  – had died as result of severe brain injuries.

Another murder in Mbayani

Meanwhile, another murder incident has been reported in Mbayani after a  23 year man identified as Bruno Marley Mwale has been killed by thugs.

The victim’s 21 year old brother  Wilfred Mwale is battling for life at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre after surviving the thugs attack.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer for Blantyre, Andrew Mayawo has confirmed about the incident.

“Police suspect that the ones that have committed this crime are robbers who wanted to steal from the victims,” said Mayawo.

No arrests have been made.

Both Bruno and Wilfred Mwale come from Chinkhwiri Village Traditional Authority Chakhaza in Dowa district.

For God sake how many innocent souls do you want to see killed before you act Peter. Pathetic government and president are what we have in this country. Do you have to wait for your daughter to be killed peter to appreciate the gravity of the problem of insecurity in this country? .It baffles me to the core to see government deploying soldiers to protect trees while it’s citizens are being butchered like dogs. I hope they take time to read this touching and candid opinion. The opinion says it all and it represents the general feeling among Malawians not to mention those that have lost their loved to these unacceptable levels of crime. This government and it’s leadership surely has lost the plot.

Actually, would love if peter, minister of home affairs, minister of defense and parliament could have read this comment and soberly reflect on it. But alas not in this country where leaders don’t want to be told the truth. Winiko can bear witness to this. All the same I guess they will read it.
