Malawi demands compensation from COSANA organizers

Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) has launched a complaint to the organizers of the annual  COSANA netball Championship demanding a compensation for the cancellation of the tournament at an eleventh hour.

The Queens were supposed to take part and defend the title  which they won last year . This year’s competition was scheduled to take place in Swaziland.

But the organizers cancelled the tournament following withdraw of other countries who were supposed to participate at the competition.

Chinunda: We need to be refunded

Speaking in an interview, NAM President Rose Chinunda confirmed sending an e-mail to COSANA netball championship organizers.

“We have indeed written them to refund us the money we spent during the preparations of the tournament and it’s not only us, even the host country Swaziland have complained about the cancellation,” said Chinunda.

According to Chinunda, NAM spent a lot of money during the two weeks the team stayed in camp plus over K8 Million which the association used to buy air tickets.

“We are trying to ask them if they can refund us the money more especially money for air tickets which amounted to over K8 Million” said Chinunda.

Meanwhile, Chinunda said the COSANA organizers have kept her association on hold pending further discussions on the matter.
