Speaking in an interview, Saleem revealed that he has introduced four new designed outfits which are made from locally available materials.

“I have created new designs of; Back packs, travelling bags, baseball tops and summer umbrellas all from chitenje and other local materials,” said Saleem.

He confirmed that these new products are set to be released next month since his clients are looking forward to purchasing them.

“I have planned to release all the products by the end of October as people all over the country are demanding to buy these new tailor-made outfits,” he explained.

Saleem added that these new outfits are different from his previous products in a way that the features and the makeup of the products are all new.

“The products have been made with new designs based on my new idea in addition to the design of my past products and people will see the uniqueness comparing to my past products since it will also be the first time to make an umbrella and other products from chitenje in Malawi,” said Saleem.

According to him his designs have been worn by Malawian music stars in their music videos including; Gwamba, Sangie, Macelba and Kell Kay and many more.

He also said currently some of his new products have already been bulked by the organizers of the Radio program known as Zathu Pawailesi.

“People of Zathu Pawailesi have told me that I should make new designs of travelling bags which  they will use as they will be starting season 2 of their program,” he said.

However the designer bemoans lack of place where designers can meet and also less interest from people in buying local products as a challenge which his brand and entire designing industry is facing in Malawi.

Saleem further stated that he hopes to create job opportunities among the youths who are jobless in Malawi.

“In Malawi many youths are just staying so with my brand I want to train those youths so that they should become self reliant and help others, and some will be employed to be assisting me,” he said.

Saleem ventured into the designing limelight in 2015 with a brand name known as Mpaliro Wear, and he has been designing and making African products from local low materials like; shoes , bangles , shirts, jackets, caps and handbags just to mention a few.
