Malawi Fashion Week 2013 street parade a success -organisers
Public Relations Manager for the Malawi Fashion Week (MFW 2013) Kimpho Loka has described the street fashion parade which they hosted at Lilongwe shopping mall on Saturday May 11 as a success.
Loka said the street fashion parade was meant to create awareness of the main event which starts this month end.
“People are excited about Malawi Fashion Week and but we wanted to create more awareness of the event and give people a chance to appreciate the talent that Malawi has to offer.
“From the reaction of the audience, you could tell that the people were impressed to see Malawian models cat walking professionally and as organisers, we are happy,” he said.
Loka said the event also gave the models an opportunity to think outside the box and produce their own design to showcase during the parade.
“The models were told to design something to encourage them to think widely and what they managed to produce was on display here,” Loka said.
During the show, there were live performances from Elegant Music artist Goma and Adrian while upcoming hip pop musician Andre Mughogho also took to the stage.
Other than the MFW 2013 models, some kids were also given an opportunity to catwalk.
Malawi Fashion Week 2013 is the first of its kind to be organised in the country and will take place at Umodzi Park located at the Presidential hotel in Lilongwe from May 30 to June 3 this year.
