Malawi first cashgate convict Namathanga walks to freedom
First convicted cashgate Triza Namathanga Senzani has been freed from prison on Thursday morning.
The former principal secretary for the ministry of Tourism has been freedom after spending one and half years of the three year jail term handed down to her following her plunder of the public resources of the K30 billion at Capital Hill.
She was released at 10:30 in the morning on Thursday at Maula Prison in Lilongwe and boarded a prison ambulance which drove at high speed and dropped her at Crown Lodge on Paul Kagame Road in Lilongwe.
Senzani managed to dodge some journalists who trailed the speeding prison ambulance.
Prison officials said she has been released because of good behaviour she dispayed during her stay at Maula prison.
Senzani pleaded guilty and gave back to the state part of property and money she stole.

This is a joke. Malawi prisons you says she has been released on the grounds that she showed good behaviour how? Can you share with us more so that our relatives who are rotting there should follow suit. All these years how many did you release on such a condition? CSOs where are you why dont you protest against this? Frankly speaking the mesage here is clear that: 1. when you steal you should plead guilty immediately. 2. at prison show good behaviour. This is not the end for Senzani. She has more serious cases involving theft while at Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Lands. Let us wait and see what the ACB and police will do since there is overwhelming evidence that she stole hundreds of milions.

Indeed no wonder…. but its unfair. How many prisoners are in the cells with good behaviour? Can that be an excuse zoona? Ingotulutsani onse and start afresh mwinanso ndi bwino mutsukidwe. Who is Namathanga senzani out of all the prisoners? How many people died in hospitals for lack of medications? What will happen to her mansion? Not fair…….
