Malawi girls urged to take modelling as a career

Munyaradzi Chidzonga, the  Zimbabwean housemate in Big Brother Africa All Stars, has urged Malawian girls to take modelling seriously as a career.

The ‘Diamond boy’ was speaking this during this year’s Miss Blantyre beauty contest at Shire Highlands Hotel in the commercial city on Saturday.

Chidzonga, who was the guest of honour during the function, told Nyasa Timesthat it was high time girls start regarding modelling as a career.

“I think its high time girls start regarding modelling as a career because there is money it,” he said.

“What l observed here is that only a few girls participated in Miss Blantyre contest. Next time, we need as many girls as we can to take part, “said Chidzonga, who arrived at the Premises together with reigning Miss Malawi Faith Chibale.

During the contest, a 23 year-old Malika Tamara Chitanda was crowned Miss Blantyre.

The first princess went to Tadala Ndisale, 18, an accounting student at Malawi College of Accountancy and the second princess went to Tamara Justin Mbewe, 18, studying Business Management at Malawi Polytechnic.

Red Rose Modeling Agency , organisers, have has set some objectives for Miss Blantyre, which among them include, identifying means of sending street children and abandoned babies to school and early childhood and learning centers.
