Malawi government changes Kaliati’s ministry name
Malawi government through its Chief Secretary Geerge Mkondiwa has said it has changed the name of one of its ministries from Ministry of Information and Civic Education to Ministry of Information, Communications Technology and Civic Education.

Mkondiwa said in a statement that the change has been made to reflect the direction is taking with the ministry.
“The Office of the President and Cabinet wishes to inform the general public and all Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that the Ministry of Information and Civic Education has been renamed.
“The change has been made to reflect the direction that Government is taking to develop the Information Technology Communications (ICT) in the country, ” the statement said.
The above ministry is currently being headed by Patricia Kaliati.
Does it matter what a ministry is called if it is still being dominated by the same mad person?

This is a costly and ultimately useless undertaking. Now all stationery has to be changed to reflect the new name; and just think about how ungainly the name will sound during news on the radio. We should follow the example of the UK and the US where ministry names are kept short and sweet – and remain the same no matter which party is in power. In the US you simply… Read more »

Changed to the Ministry for Cosmetic Affairs
Malawi has taken a right direction. Actually this is the trend in most african countries. The role of ICT in this modern world ought not to be overemphasized. Its indubitable that public service delivery can only be enhanced if we embrace ICT. This is an ‘e-world’ where even 2 years olds have embraced ICT.
