Malawi Govt picks Arthur Chipenda as OPC spin-doctor
Journalist Arthur Chipenda from Ministry of Information headquarters in Lilongwe has been deployed to Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC) at Capital Hill as Public Relations Officer.
Chipenda confirmed on a journalist’s internet discussion forum: “Thanks a lot mabwana ndi madona. It is indeed true that I have been posted to OPC as spokesperson for the office.”
The journalist, who has risen in the Ministry of Information from the ranks of a junior reporter at Malawi News Agency (MANA), wrote: “ I will obviously rely on your support and counsel. Thanks a lot.”
The post was created in 2006 by the Bingu wa Mutharika administration and was first occupied by former Daily Times Managing Editor Mike Kamwendo.
It was later held by former Nation Publications Limited journalist Dennis Mzembe.
