Malawi govt tells its citizens living in South Africa to mind security

Government says it is closely monitoring the situation in South Africa where xenophobic attacks have resurfaced and urged Malawians living there to take extra security measures.

Kasaila: Malawi government monitoring the situation

Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Francis Kasaila has said the government is working on how best to provide security to the Malawians caught up in the attacks.

“It is good for all Malawians living in hotspot areas to take extra measures for their personal security.

“If they want to move from one area to another, they should assess the security situation first. They need to be extra careful to avoid these attacks,” said the Minister.

Some Africans have blamed South African politicians for failing to take preventive measures on the attacks a month after the organisers issued a warning.

At least 90 people have been arrested mainly due to looting in Johannesburg.

Nigerian Govt. has issued a very stern warning against R.S.A. Govt. regarding the issue. This gives their citizens confidence that they have a caring government. Here this stupid government takes a very lukewarm stand.Shame !

Am so disgusted by these barbaric acts of the stupid South Africans. They do not learn from experience. The surprise Apartheid but can not learn from it. Its a shame that they cannot consider other Africans as brothers and sisters. I think enough is enough let them face the same challenge. We loot also their shoprites and games etc. They should also feel the pin the ass.

Our brothers and sisters living in South Africa should just know that those attacks is a call to come back home. They should not wait for someone to take care of their security. Home is best. Anthu akupanga ndalama ku Malawi konkuno. Ambiriwonso akumati akapita ku South ko akumabwerakonso chimodzimodzi m’mene anapitira opanda kanthu.. so they better come back home and use their brain right here for their daily bread. Once again HOME IS BEST

Home is where your heart is and not where you were born.

A Kasaira, this needs to be an African response. Time is now to table this at the AU. South African should not see themselves as indispensable. African should talk with one voice. Listen to the Zimbabweans who want to stop all SA trucks crossing the border, and flights. When you kick South African on the trade issue, the politicians will feel the pain and respond by protecting our citizens. Where is Mtambo on this issue. Isn’t this a human right issue? What should we do with Shoprite and Game

What has shop rite to do with this I thought demonstrations should be violent free and other people’s rights should respected. You deliberately destroy you economy through corruption and expect South Africa to bear the consequences. Wrong just bring then back and turn them into thieves and cadets.

the issue here is not about monitoring the situation but create an environment where Malawians can be empowered and do things that can lead them to enjoy the fruits of their economy
