Deputy secretary for the Department of Nutrition and HIV Owen Wanda said research shows that Dedza and Salima are the worst hit with stunting rates hovering at 46% and 47% respectively.

“There are very short people in the two districts because of stunting and we thought we should move in,” said Wanda.

GTZ has provided the money and the government will work with three other NGOs; Wait Hunger Health, Concern Universal and Village Rich.

The NGOs will sensitize communities in the two districts on what food to eat and when to it among others and people will be getting health tips on right food through their mobile phones.
