Minister of Health, Peter Kumpalume: Let us donate blood

Kumpalume said this on Tuesday when he visited 40 accident patients at Mzuzu Central Hospital who were involved in the fatal accident last week that killed 15 others.

“We need to have our blood banks full so that we can treat accident victims and save their lives,” said Kumpalume.

The accident involved four vehicles that piled on each other on the Chiweta road in Mzuzu and included a minibus full of Sunday School children who were going to Karonga from Chitipa for a function.

Kumpalume thanked the members of staff at Mzuzu Hospital whom he said returned back to work as soon as they heard of the accident which happened off working hours and worked long hours in trying to save the lives of people.

He said this showed medical staff and the support staff at the hospital were dedicated to duty and asked other workers in public hospitals to emulate this example.
