Malawi hires ex-DPP Kamudoni to prosecute cash-gate case

Malawi Government has engaged the services of retired Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Kamudoni Nyasaulu to assist in prosecuting Cashgate cases.

Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Bruno Kalemba told Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament on Thursday that Nyasulu was hired to help in the cases.

“Mr. Nyasulu has been appointed a prosecutor in cash-gate cases. He is the best we could get to assist us in the cases. He will be involved in many activities related to the case, including  mentoring our team,” said Kalemba.

Kalemba also disclosed that investigations into the shooting of budget director Paul Mphwiyo were finished and the DPP was ready with the case.

PAC deputy chairperson Daveson Nyadani called on the DPP to expedite all the cases surrounding cash-gate.

“This committee wants the DPP to expedite the cases. The country is getting very impatient, angry and frustrated .We encourage you to handle the cases as fast as you can,” said Nyadani.
