Malawi hosts Zim as Chelsea duo set to lead Nigeria against Kenya

Stephen Keshi, coach for Flames’ opponent in the World Cup Qualifiers, Nigeria’s Super Eagles has announced his 25-man squad to face Mexico in international friendly match in USA later this month.

The Super Eagles, who are tying on points with second-placed Malawi’s Flames, are topping the Group F qualifier standings as they have a better goal difference.

Namibia’s Brave Warriors are third with three, while Kenya’s Harambe Stars are fourth with two points.

The Chelsea duo of John Mikel Obi and Victor Moses will lead the Super Eagles to Houston for their international friendly against Mexico in the US on May 31.

The duo is also most likely to lead the Super Eagles in their June 1 2014 World Cup Group F qualifier return match against Harambee Stars in Nairobi.

Kenya’s Harambee Stars held Nigeria to 1-1 draw in their World Cup qualifier first leg match in Calabar, Nigeria in match.

Nigeria, the current African champions, are preparing for two 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches in June before travelling to Brazil to participate in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

Mikel and Moses will lead a contingent of nine players from the Nigeria Professional Football League called up for the game.

Keshi has also called in two players based in the German Bundesliga, two from Serie A in Italy, two from the Scottish Premier League and two from the Portuguese Liga. Mexico is expected to release its roster in the coming days.

Malawi’s Flames are this Saturday hosting Zimbabwe in international friendly match as they are also faced with a daunting task against the Brave Warriors on June 5 at Kamuzu Stadium before hosting Kenya’s Harambe Stars a week later at the same venue in Blantyre.

Mexico and Nigeria have met three times with a 1-0-2 record in favour of Mexico.
