Malawi leader appoints new boards of Mardef, National Herbarium

President Joyce Banda has appointed Board of Directors for the Malawi Rural Development Fund (MARDEF) and the National Herbarium and Botanic Gardens.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Secretary to the Government, Hawa Ndilowe, the Board Chairperson of the National Herbarium and Botanic Gardens is Dr. Ibrahim Makoka Phiri and his vice Dr. Chimwemwe Roberta Mawaya.

Members of the board include Dr. Samson Sajidu; Ms. Hellen Buluma; Gelvazio Thamala; Lovemore Mazibuko; Ms. Zelesi Gomani and Director General of National Commission for Science and Technology.

The board also includes the following as ex-officio members, Secretary for Environment and Climate Change; Secretary for Local Government and Rural Development; Secretary for Education, science and Technology; and Comptroller of Statutory Corporations.

President Banda appointed   9 persons to serve as Board of Directors of MARDEF.

The President has appointed, Hax Honde as the Chairperson of the Board, Calvin Kamchacha, Pempho Likongwe, Jimmy Frank Benjamin Kayuni and Jessie Ndisale as Members of the board.

Other members of the board include the Secretary to the Treasury, Secretary for the Youth and Sports, Secretary for Education, Science and Technology and Secretary for Industry and Trade as Ex-Official Members.
