Malawi’s football team on Tuesday lost to Liberia in a friendly match which was organised to prepare for their crucial Africa Cup of Nations clash against Ghana this weekend.
The Flames conceded in the 88th minutes of the game.
Man-of-the moment Gabadini Mhango, who was included in the squad fresh from their Presidential Cup winning exploits with Bullets who beat Moyle Barracks 1-0 on Saturday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe, was handed international match debut from the bench.
Despite the loss to Liberia, Malawi head coach put up a brave face, saying he was “satisfied” with the team’s performance.
He said the performance of the squad has given him confidence that his charges will play well against Ghana and can cause upset.
He however accused some foreign based players for being “lazy “, saying most of them were merely “having a walk” in the pitch.
The Flames will face Ghana this weekend in Accra for the first leg of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
