Malawi lose to Madagascar in beach soccer finals
The Malawi beach soccer team on Saturday endured a bad day in Seychelles in the first quarter of the inaugural Council of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Beach Soccer tournament. when they lost the cup to Madagascar.
Malawians were all over the place to conceded 5 goals in six minutes.
Festus Chikweza did pull one back to make it 5-1. But it was too late.
Madagascar scored two more goals from the spot kick to make it 7-1 and won by 9 goals to 4.
National Beach Soccer Coach, Stereo Gondwe, said Malawi “never had an opportunity to play an international match including friendlies.”
This three-day tournament comes only a few days before the Indian Ocean island nation will be hosting the 2015 Confederation of African Football’s (CAF) African beach soccer championship which will see the two finalists qualify for the world cup to be held later this year.
