Malawi main referral hospital, KCH sued over wrong drugs

One of Malawi’s major referral  hospital, Kamuzu Central, has been sued for prescribing wrong drugs to a five year old boy Miracle Gomani.

According to the Malawi News, the parents of Miracle are demanding K35 million from the facility.

According to the weekly newspaper, the boy was admitted at the hospital in November 2009.kch

But while there, the child developed an eye ailment. But instead of right prescription of drugs, the boy was given wrong medication chrotrimazole, which is used to treat ear ailments.

It was due to this reason that the boy developed the eye complication.

According to the affidavits, the plantiff is claiming K20 Million for loss of an eye, K4 Million for inconvenience, K1.5 Million for disfigurement and K9 Million for future care.

Lilongwe Senior Deputy District Registrar Justus Kishindo is quoted having said that the case stalled because the judge went for studies.
