Malawi name final Queens squad for Australia series

Malawi Queens Coach Edith Kaliati has released her 12-member squad expected to leave for the forthcoming Four National Invitation tournament to held in Perth, Australia.

The Queens are expected to depart Malawi on Tuesday via South Africa before connecting to Perth.

In her squad, Kaliati has drafted in MTL Queens vast experienced Sylvia Malenga- Mtetemela.

Mtetemela is the only veteran player comparing with any other player in the team after the retirement of Mary ‘Atcheya’ Waya.

Kaliati has also drafted in the young and upcoming Mzuzu Queens player Takondwa Lwazi.

The key players in the squad are Australian based Mwayi ‘Professor’ Kumwenda, Escom Sisters trio of Caroline ‘Ayuda’ Ngwira and Towera ‘Tobe’ Vinkhumbo.

The Queens mentor has also included Bingu Tigresses duo of Sindi ‘Sniper’ Simutowe and Beatrice Kadango-Mpinganjira.

In an interview with Nyasa Times, Queens assistant Coach Sam Kanyenda assured Malawians of better results.

“We are fully prepared for the tournament, and the morale is high in camp, “said Kanyenda.

The coach also emphasised of reclaiming their African Number ranking in their game against South Africa.

The Queens first game is on October 20 against New Zealand.

After sorting it out with New Zealand, the Queens second assignment will be on 21 October against Australia Under-21 before wrapping up their journey against South Africa on October 23.

Mwayi Kumwenda, Sindi Simutowe, Grace Mwafulirwa, Caroline Ngwira, Towera Vinkhumbom Bridget Kumwenda, Beatrice Kadango, Sylivia Mtetemela, Joana Kachilika, Takondwa Lwazi, Joyce Mvula and Jayne Chimaliro.
