Malawi players survive road accident

Malawi national team players based in Blantyre survived road accident on Monday at Chimbiya on their way from the Capital, Lilongwe.

The players were coming from Lilongwe to Blantyre after their arrival from Calabar, Nigeria where they played their crucial game.

According to eye witnesses the bus, carrying the players, had a tyre burst and lost control to swerve off the Lilongwe-Blantyre Road.

Flames defender Sankhani Mkandawire, who did not make the trip to Nigeria said there were no serious injuries but most players complained of chest pains.

The players arrived on Monday from Calabar Nigeria where they lost 2-0 to the Super Eagles in the last round of the World Cup qualifiers.

Nigeria advanced to the final round of qualifiers for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
