Malawi Police arrest 3 over fake MSCE
Malawi National Examinations Board (Maneb) says police last week arrested three people on suspicion that they used fake Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) to get employment.
Of the three, two work for Blue Financial Services in Lilongwe whereas one is a trainee at Lilongwe Teachers Training College, according to Maneb public relations officer Simeon Maganga.
Maganga said acting on suspicion that some employees and student teachers had presented false certificates to gain employment and training places respectively, the national examination body, with the help of Malawi Police, visited the two institutions on an interrogate mission.
At Blue Financial Services, Maganga said, the officials picked up Mary Mangupili, a quality assurance officer and Mayamiko Manda, a sales consultant.
At Lilongwe TTC, the suspect is Kondwani Munthali, an open distance learning student currently teaching at Ndebvu Primary School in Lilongwe West.
“The three were arrested and held at Lilongwe Police Station on the offence of uttering of false documents and have since been released on bail waiting to be taken to court,” said Manganga.
He encouraged employers to have certificates of their employees scrutinised by Maneb so that jobs are awarded to deserving people.
Said Maganga: “Some institutions usually bring to us photocopies of certificates of their employees for vetting purposes, And when we note an anomaly we always make investigations as was the case in this matter.”
