Malawi police arrest ‘black money washing’ conman after duping Zambian couple of over MK5mil

A Zambian couple that wanted to have their K5 million multiplied by a Lilongwe based Malawan is crying bitterly after being duped of the money.

Malawi Kwacha: The suspect convinced the Zambian couple he  could double their money and make them rich.

However, Malawi Police arrested the conman, identified as 45 year-old Robert Kachingwe, from Nsokoneza village, Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe.

The suspect, who allegedly duped the Zambian couple of over K5 million, is expected to appear before the court to answer a charge of obtaining money by false pretense, contrary to Section 319 of the Penal Code.

According to Central Region Police, law enforcers arrested the suspect after receiving a complaint from Philonia Phiri on the matter.

“The complainant heard from a certain Mozambican (particulars are unknown), of Robert Kachingwe, a Malawian, who multiplies cash.

“After discussing with her husband, they journeyed to Malawi in Area 24 to meet with the magician. The couple gave the magician MK5 million with an agreement to make it MK15 million. They were then told to leave until the next following day,” explained Kingsley Dandaula, Publicist for Central Region Police.

He said when they came the following day, another MK200, 000 was demanded from the couple with suspect telling them he wanted buy water which is used for bathing dead human bodies in mortuaries.

The conman, according to Dandaula, told the couple that such water is a necessary component for cash multiplication process.

“Later, he asked the couple how much would they pay him since he had managed to make MK48 milliom instead of the initial MK15 million. And the couple promised him MK10 million.

“Surprisingly, the trickster did not give them the money but instead told them to come another day with MK250, 000 cash to offer it to the spirits who had performed the multiplication process.

“On this day they were ordered never to meet him again at Area 24 but instead they should now start meeting at Msokoneza village, in Traditional Authority Kalolo in Lilongwe,” he explained.

When they met in Mchinji, the couple was taken to a graveyard where they were ordered to remove pants and told them to surrender the agreed MK250, 000.

And the money multiplier gave them some charms to take home with them.

“When they reached home that day they discussed and agreed to report to Police since it was certain that the magician had cheated them,” he asserted.

Upon receiving the report, Police launched investigations and managed to arrest the suspect.

That’s stupidity at its best. This trick went out of fashion long time ago. Come on guys this is 2017. Why you have managed to get 5 million then why can’t you make business? So you give someone who hasn’t got money to multiply it for you? If he can multiply monly do you think that you could get him?

The couple was foolish to believe money can be multiplied. The 5ml was enough cash to start something big which could have given them the 15m they needed.
