Malawi Police arrest man for allegedly killing cheating wife

Malawi Police in Ntchisi are keeping in custody  a man for suspecting him of murdering his  cheating wife.

The man, Batson Jaleki aged 39 from Chisamba Village in Traditional Authority Chilooko in the district, is suspected of being behind the murder of his wife Feliya Peter Batson, 35 early this month after she committed adultery with another man from the same village.

Ntchisi Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha said  the deceased committed adultery in November last year and the matter was resolved in December.

“On January 9 this year, the deceased went missing and the matter was never reported to police,” said M’bumpha.

Her body was later found in a decomposed state hanged to a small tree with a rope on the neck on January 24, according to the police spokesperson.

Police together with medical personnel from Malomo Health Centre visited the scene and a postmortem conducted revealed that the death was due to suffocation.

The husband is yet to appear in court to answer murder charges contrary to section 209 of the penal code.
