Malawi police arrest Zambian for murder, removing private parts: One bolts due to faulty handcuff
A Zambian national Isaac Nyirongo has been arrested by police in Mzimba for being alleged to have been in the gang of five people who attacked and removed the private parts of Kumbukani Kumwenda in Edingeni in traditional authority Mmbelwa last Thursday.
According to Mzimba police station officer, Assistant Commissioner of police Luis Chigadula another suspect identified as Malizani who was arrested together with Nyirongo has escaped after untying himself from a defective handcuffs which was used during the arrest.
Chigadula said that police investigations revealed that Kumwenda was hit in the head and fainted before Nyirongo and his friends removed his private parts.
“According to our investigations, Kumwenda was attacked by five people,” said Chigadula.
He said Kumwenda died due to severe loss of blood.
Chigadula went further by saying that both the suspects and the deceased are from Zambia only that the incident took place on Malawian soil.
“Preliminary investigations have shown that the suspects wanted to sell the private parts to a wealthy business man at Edingeni for K30 million,” said Chigadula.
Both the deceased and the suspect Isaac Nyirongo hails from the area of traditional authority Magodi in Zambia.
Meanwhile, the body has been taken by the Zambia police for burial after the identification and four other suspects are still at large.
