Malawi Police get another donation from Simbi’s Khato Civils, receives 7 motorcycles
The working relationship between Malawi Police Service (MPS) and construction firm Khato Civils is growing by day, latest being a donation of seven motorcycles to the law enforcers at the weekend.

The donation – which was made by Khato Civils executive chairperson, Simbi Phiri – was this time directed at the Central Region chapter of the Police Service.
Inspector General of Police, Lexten Kachama, received the donation on behalf of Malawi Police. He then thanked Simbi Phiri for his continued support to the law enforcement fraternity.
Kachama was also joined at the presentation by Police Commissioner for the Central Region, Clifford Bandawe.
Taking his turn, Simbi Phiri reiterated the need for private citizens to give a helping hand to Malawi Police knowing that the efficiency of the law enforcement service relies on support from the community.
Just weeks ago Khato Civils handed over an K85 million police unit at Kamwendo Trading Centre in Mchinji to MPS. On top of the magnificent unit the firm also donated a vehicle and motorcycles to the police unit.

Simbi at home; tell him to consider all regions of Malawi
Good job Mr. Simbi and so far you are doing well interms of your PR. From nowhere Malawians are now knowing you for good reasons.
We have rich citizens in Malawi but they have never helped anyone and Simbi is the great man…. I wish he could be our President and trust me he can’t fail at polls. Mr Simbi we are praying for you to lead us in 2019.
The donation is there, granted. But tell those PMF officers who are reaping where they did not sow of money in the name of checkpoint. I mean police officers who are planted between Zobue and Mwanza Border Posts. They check documents on people travelling by moterbikes only. If one doesn’t have any documents, then it’s amen. One has to pay them money. The money goes into their pockets. Mbava.
Thank you Mr Simbi for trusting the APM Led Government and we are there to support you
Law enforcement such as police should not be receiving bribes ( you guys stupidly call donations) from such firms or companies for the simple reason of purely avoiding conflicts of interest that may arise. Simbi can donate his money or items to other good causes in the country but not the police. He can for example buy maize for people or help as bushiri does. But not to police or govt. The police should be refusing such donations. Kachama should know better.
Dpp is always worried about bushiri good works but it seems very happy with simbi’s donations to police.
I have nothing to say against Mr Simbi; in fact what he’s doing is admirable.
Even if he was doing this because of the SA-DA-LL Water project or even “politics” that would still be fine.
But then, regarding this water project; can we really pump massive amounts of water from the lake, enough for cities of LL, SA, Mponela, and other trading places and still have enough water to run our turbines on Shire? And still implement irrigation down the Shire Basin? I have doubts.
Perhaps our priority should be construction of big Dams for the growing urban centres.
Besides, huge amounts of power could be required to push water up those DA hills. This may not be feasible in Mw.
Just a thought. After the “Nsanje Port City” saga no one wants another white elephant.
What ya say LLWB? Or CRWB?

This is a good gesture may Simbi continue assisting us
I hear the guy has got enough to share. He’s rich. And I find his attitude worth emulating. But honestly what I’m finding hard to stomach is how the press is always available during these ceremonies. The holy books (it must be in the quorun as well) teaches us not to let the right hand know what the left is doing. Let him continue giving but honestly I’m tired of reading his good deeds in the press. Not because I’m jealousy but this is just a fact.
Iam hearing of this Tender of pumping water from Lake Malawi to Lilongwe. Questions: when was this Tender advertised? Who Tendered? When was it adjudicated? What was the criteria used? Obviously critical issues on the criteria are: Technical Capacity( previous history of similar projects and success rate, history on delivery time, Any challenges from previous projects and how they were resolved).Commercial( Source of Funding, cost escalation % rate, any history on cost escalations from previous projects).
Were references made on previous projects? Did the Adjudication Team investigate how previous projects were delivered and found that they were all delivered in good faith without any issues being probed? Did they get clearance certificates from the previous projects Clients. If this project has been awarded in the absence of this scrutiny, then we are heading for another big cash gate.
Why Police? They should be cautious when it comes to receiving gifts from individual businessmen. These gifts come always with something behind and when the time comes the same Police will shield such investigations. Why a Police Chief receiving such a small gift of 7 motor cycles.
KOMA OSIMBI KUMASAMBA MUKUWONEKA NGATI TENANT BWANJI> NDALAMA ZAKE ZOKHWIMILA
With donations of this magnitude and the publicity done when this man breaks the law will police be confident to deal with him?
DPP is positioning this guy for a running mate in 2019. Trust me. This party has a unique strategy for central region. They are having more activities in Mchinji of late.
Tiberedwapo apa!
Uyutu Simbi atibela zambiri tikumuona
i think its great and everything that as a acitizen Mr Simbi is making contribution to his nation, but i vqnt help but wonder…kodi this is in exchange for what? If iits just goid intentions then thats nice…but then if the government gave me a contract worth K89 billion kwacha to pump water from lake malawi in salima to LL, this would be pocket change…
